Dr. Youm is an outstanding surgeon. He performed my total knee replacement and I was back to my pre-surgery cycling and hiking activities within 4.5 months of the procedure. He patiently answered all my questions and his office support staff is very proactive and responsive. They guided me through the whole process from pre-surgery to post op. Their support was invaluable in making my procedure and recovery a total success. I highly recommend Dr. Youm.

After 6 months of PT to no avail, and searching far and wide for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan for the hip pain I had been experiencing, I finally was referred to Dr. Youm and could not be happier with my experience. I was diagnosed with a labral tear and pincer impingement, and he recommended surgery after the other things I had tried didn't work. Dr. Youm was extremely clear in explaining my injury, the surgery, and the recovery process, and I knew I was in very good hands. The surgery went extremely well (under 40 min) and I was home later that morning. I found that the almost constant dull pain I was experiencing pre-surgery was gone immediately. Several months out, recovery has been going well and I will be cleared to return to my full exercise routine soon. At every appointment, Dr. Youm has been very patient and clear with expectations on when I can return to my usual activities. The office staff is very helpful as well -- quick to fill out necessary paperwork I needed and I did not have to wait too long to schedule the surgery. I would recommend Dr. Youm to anyone dealing with this condition.

I have been Dr. Youm’s patient for over 7 ½ years, so I have had ample interactions with both him and his staff to give a useful review to anyone looking for an orthopedic surgeon. I consider myself an educated consumer, so I consulted with several surgeons at the top hospitals in NYC before deciding on who to treat with. It was an easy choice to make. Dr. Youm was down to earth but more than that, he was the most direct and straight forward communicator and knowledgeable doctor I met with. Since I came to him 13 months after sustaining an injury and in bad shape, he explained that I needed surgery right away and that rehab would take more time than usual. He could not have been more precise regarding my rehab time. I found both him and his staff to be exceptionally organized and empathetic. He laid out a clear plan of treatment for me with a strong follow through. During the period following my surgery, Dr. Youm and his staff advocated for me by working with my insurance and others, helping me to get the supportive equipment and services I qualified for. Dr. Youm even spoke with my physical therapist when he felt his guidance would help me, a collaborative gesture which demonstrated a genuine interest in my success. For those who care about their surgery scar- to say he is a highly skilled surgeon would be an understatement. I can barely see the surgery scar- something I’m very happy about. A doctor’s staff make a big difference in a patient’s experience. Dr. Youm’s staff are professional, helpful, efficient, and courteous. Most of them have worked for him for as long as I have been treating with him. I think that says a lot about him. Their support during my rehab made such a difference in helping me get through this difficult time. From writing letters of support, printing the records I needed, to getting me updated therapy scripts, they never failed me. When I reinjured my surgery site, Dr. Youm explained that a second surgery would have a longer rehab time and lower chance of success. He spent the next two years exhausting all conservative treatment possibilities with me before agreeing to do a second surgery. I really feel here that he acted in my best interest, and this is what I have come to know about Dr. Youm- he is a physician of great integrity who puts his patients’ best interests first. I think this is the main take away I would like to leave for any reader of this review. Dr. Youm is a formidable human being and physician of distinguished integrity who treats his patients with empathy and compassion, putting their best interests above his own. The second rehab following my second surgery was long and tough, as he had predicted, but he never gave up on me; he continued to encourage me to persist with therapy until I reached a certain level of functionality. Against great odds, I did. Looking back, I think no other doctor would have encouraged me so. I unequivocally recommend Dr. Youm.

Best Ortho doc I’ve ever been to. Never pressured to do surgery, offered a bunch of operative alternatives, but after 8 years after Right Knee Arthroscopy, my right knee feels better than my left (which is normal). Feels better than new

Dr. Youm has done all five of my joint surgeries (three hip, two shoulder) and I find him to be a smart, skilled and caring surgeon. Though friends have tried to convince me to try their surgeons I stick with this doctor as I trust and respect him and he treats me likewise. His office is efficiently run and the hospital staff where he performs his surgeries is very good. I get terrible nausea from anesthesia and the anesthesiologists there do whatever they can to avoid this reaction and they are successful. The post op nursing care is very attentive. At least try him for a consultation; you owe it to yourself to have the best on your side.
