My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Saftchick for the past five or six years. In that time, Dr. Saftchick’s care and guidance have been both life-saving and life-changing for us. Dr. Saftchick has either diagnosed or gotten us diagnosed and treated for ailments that had been troubling us for years, as well as for new health obstacles we’ve encountered as we settle into middle age. More than one would have lead to long term disease, or worse. He’s put us on the right paths to the testing and the specialists we’ve needed, and continues to steer us in the right direction towards treatment, healing and maintaining our good health. Dr. Saftchick also has great bedside manner, and every visit is accompanied by warm, personal conversation as much as medical. The staff is equally warm and friendly, and go above and beyond to meet your medical needs. My wife and I have found Dr. Saftchick to be knowledgeable, thorough and most of all, caring. Dr. Saftchick has a real “caring country doctor” touch, and to know that our doctor cares about us gives us a confidence and security that’s not easy to find these days. Thanks to Dr. Saftchick, we are currently both enjoying excellent health.

Dr Saftchick is a Very Good Dr, I went to him after a patient I met at Bellevue Hospital told me about him in 2016, and since I am very satisfied with the care, I’m receiving from him. He also has a wonderful Medical Staff. He tells you in details your problem in the way you can understand & should b done about it. I’m glad I to have him as my Dr and deservingly recommend him to anyone who needs a Good Doctor. In my humble opinion he is 1 of the best Dr in NY.

I had a series of negative experiences with Dr. Saftchick and his office that dissuaded me from continuing as his patient. Basically, I found him to be both incompetent and unprofessional. At my very first appointment, I asked him to examine a few places on my skin that I was concerned about, which took about 5-10 minutes. He informed me afterwards that I would be charged $125 out of pocket, because such an exam does not count as part of a checkup in my insurance plan. He also misheard me and prescribed the wrong dose of a medication that I was already taking at the time. Throughout this first appointment, he appeared underconfident, saying things like “I always wanted to do something creative. Medicine is pretty rote.” When I called to get a prescription refill, Dr. Saftchick was on vacation and was using an answering service that told me the doctor on call would return my call in order to refill my prescription, but I never got a call back, even though I spoke with them multiple times. When Dr. Saftchick returned from vacation, he sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy. His receptionist told me that she would take care of having it sent to the correct pharmacy, which she never did. When Dr. Saftchick finally got back to me about the mixup, he said the receptionist never told him about my message and when I said “oh, weird” (because, I don’t know, what do you even say?) he said, rudely, “no, it’s not weird, the receptionist made a mistake and we’re understaffed in the middle of a pandemic.” He then told me HE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO SEND A PRESCRIPTION TO A DIFFERENT PHARMACY. So I called the pharmacy and figured it out myself.

Actually the most rude and unreasonably aggressive doctor I’ve ever encountered in my 31 years of life. I went in for a new patient visit (I was even 30 minutes early!) and he had a meltdown in the waiting room (in front of other patients!) because his name wasn’t on my insurance card. He was at such an inappropriate level of anger that I could only presume that he was coming from something else that had already upset him. I meekly offered to pay out of pocket because he was so incensed about needing to make sure he got paid - meanwhile I came all this way in the snow and despite the fact that I was coming in for a new patient visit and that I had made the appointment 2 weeks earlier, no one bothered to follow up with me to explain or confirm this apparently extremely important detail about his name being on my card. I wouldn’t even go back there if it were free. His behavior was so appalling and awful that I felt forced to file a formal complaint with my insurance company - if anything just to make sure he doesn’t do this to another patient again.
