Having known Dr. Markowitz since high school, I always thought she had the traits to make an excellent doctor: competent, compassionate, and personable. Not only book smart, she also has the emotional intelligence to partner with her patients and help them confront difficult diagnoses. During my annual cancer screening, I have found her to be thorough with meticulous attention to detail. Whether you see Dr. Markowitz for medical or cosmetic issues, you can be confident in her great problem solving abilities to determine the best course of action.

Super impressed with Dr. Markowitz. I flew to NYC from Wyoming to get non-invasive laser treatment for my basal cell carcinoma. I had no idea what to expect and knew I was taking a big risk in seeing a doctor I had never met for a new procedure I had never done. Dr. Markowitz’s bed side manner was warm, professional, and honest. She not only answered my questions but was supportive and patient in explaining my particular treatment plan and helped me process my options. I left her office trusting her thorough assessment and thoughtful recommendations.

I'll start with the positives, the team here is so nice and welcoming, and the app they use is easy to navigate so you have your medical info on you all the time. Unfortunately on the whole I had a bad experience seeing Dr. Markowitz from April to Sept 2022. I'm sure Dr. Markowitz is a good cosmetic dermatologist, but I would never recommend her to somebody with a skin condition. For the whole six months, I insisted that I had psoriasis. Dr. Markowitz disregarded the skin biopsy I had previously which confirmed this, and instead she kept insisting it was a fungus. The treatments did not work, my condition worsened, and I was in pain and discomfort for months. I found another dr who specialized in skin conditions and she immediately confirmed it was psoriasis. In the time I spent being ignored by Dr. Marowitz, my condition has caused permanent damage. I'm honestly shocked the rating here is so high, but maybe I just shouldn't have come here for something non-cosmetic.

I will NOT recommend this practice at all!! After I posted a honest review and sent a list of feedback as the doctor called me to ask me to remove the review by offering some refund, they replied that my message is harassing. If they do not even know how to appreciate / value customer feedback and make improvements, they should NOT stay in business! Dr. Markowitz told me in person during my visit re tinea versicolor that the second dose of ketoconazole 200mg pills should be taken ONE MONTH after the first dose, yet the prescription shows ONE WEEK. No one owned up to the error on the day of my visit. I had to do hours of internet research on my own and no one responded to my questions for days until I called and texted. The operations are a mess. You cannot send a message to a staff in the OptiSkin portal. You can only receive or reply. After I texted them to inform them that I had emailed them separately and messaged them in the Optiskin portal, a staff member called me back and said she cannot locate my message I sent 2 days ago in the portal. However, I only sent 2 messages altogether. Cannot believe how incompetent the staff is and how inefficient the system is. After Dr. Markowitz called me personally to ask me to remove the review, I am even more convinced that the entire group has such a high sense of entitlement that they do not even treat their clients with basic respect. She also claims that they work very hard and do not deserve a bad review. The logic is entirely wrong! They do not work for free. We as patients spend a significant amount of our time and money (in my case $1250 for a quick visit less than 20 minutes with the doctor) visiting doctors' office. Yet, when they do not do their job right, they try to delay it, cover it up and blame it onto the patient instead of owning the error immediately and clarifying the issues as soon as they discovered the errors. I will not recommend this office AT ALL. They do not know how to treat their patients with respect and care. The medical advice as to how to take a medication was even wrong!!! They are overwhelmed and disorganized since they seem to be keen on chasing revenues from gullible patients. Stay away!!!
