My grandfather from my mother's side died of throat cancer. My grandmother on my mother's side died of colon cancer. My father died of stomach cancer. Given this background, I researched tirelessly for the best GI that could treat me. I landed on Dr. Joseph Neal and I can't praise him enough. The moment I entered his office, I was greeted with respect and sense of humor by his staff. He pulled no stops to figure out what was wrong with my stomach/ intestines. He encouraged me to immediately schedule an endoscopy/ colonoscopy combo. Aside of the horrid experience everyone goes through with the colonoscopy liquid, everything else was a breeze! He removed a polyp and very graciously explained my diagnosis. Even now, due to an acid rebound, my throat suffers. He's been very attentive to it and immediately putting me in a regime to heal my throat and esophagus. Here's the kicker: because of the nature of my work I'm constantly traveling. Right now, I commute between Puerto Rico and NYC. I am so impressed with his professionalism, attention and kindness, I schedule my trips around our appointments. He continues communication, answering emails within 24 hours for non-emergency situations. During the pandemic he takes care of his patients with special care offering televisits. His staff is also very professional and caring. Dr. Neal is honest, objective, knowledgeable, professional and very kind. I highly recommend him for your GI needs.

I’ve been under the care of Dr. Neal since 2018. He has always demonstrated attentiveness, care and understanding with my medical conditions. No complaints and love Gotham’s esthetically neat, clean and modern offices.

This is a recap of the events this morning with Dr Neal Joseph. I arrived at 11:54. The meeting was scheduled for 11:40. It was expressed to me over the phone by his staff that a 15 minute grace period was allowed. I spoke to the staff over the phone during that period to say I was in traffic but would make it during the grace period. They said as long as I made it in that period it would be okay. I did not feel comfortable taking the subway because of recent shootings; that is why I took the bus, as many New Yorkers who don't regularly take Ubers are doing now. They turned me away from my appointment at 11:54. In person, they said I would have to reschedule. The office was completely empty of other patients. The lobby doorman can attest my arrival time. This is truly unacceptable behavior on the part of the doctor and I intend to report.

Warning to all new patients of Summit Health specialists - you will be charged $400+ for your "new patient" visit. Regardless of what happens during the appointment - that is their policy, per my conversation with the billings department. I have insurance, and even after that I got hit with a $350 bill for my 15 minute specialist appointment, during which I wasn't even physically examined. I called Summit Health and tried to get my charges reviewed, but I'm currently out hundreds of dollars for less than half an hour of actual medical attention.

Horrible doctor. I left early but was late to the appointment because of train. I was in front of the clinic and he did not want to see me. Wasted my money and time. My app was 1:30 PM and i arrived at 1:48 PM. No sympathy whatsoever. Asked me to reschedule, no thanks I’ll find another doctor that won’t cancel appointments when a patient is in front of the clinic.
