I saw Dr. Barandes in 2008 to check my thyroid. My internist said I was menopausal which wasn't true & thankfully Dr.Barandes found out I had Graves disease. He watched me for a while before he decided to give me radio active iodine. He then adjusted my meds as needed. I retired & it wasn't convenient to go to Manhattan so I saw a doctor on S.I. He immediately changed my meds. I developed anxiety it was horrible. So I went back on meds Dr. Barandes gave me & was ok. The doctor on S.I. was furious with me, well too bad for him, I went back to Dr. Barandes, he is the best. I have since moved to NJ & my internist has been watching me but if I don't feel well, I'm going back to Dr.Barandes he knows his stuff.

Dr. Barandes has been my specialist for 10 years. He's tremendous and I've recommended him to co-workers and family who needed an endocrinologist. One of the best in NYC Tri-State area. Great bedside manner and his experience is unmatched. I give him a big thumbs up!

Dr. Barandes is great. I have been going to him for 15 years. My mother goes as well. He is great Dr. I have never had a problem. I don't understand the negative reviews. He is friendly. I guess that's a bad thing these days. That's very sad.

I had a doctor's visit with this "doctor" who turned out to be a major womanizer and told me i had a year max to live (I had no thyroid issues ever before, i was just going to all specialists to find out why I was coughing) and that he would have to cut out my thyroid. I went to get a second opinion and was told i had a very healthy thyroid. I still do, 18 years later. I complained about him - nobody cared, he is still practicing in NYC.

My consultation with this physician was very unhelpful. His bedside manner is extremely patronizing and self-righteous. He asked inappropriate, irrelevant questions during our meeting and was unresponsive and unhelpful in follow-up, unavailable personally and only dispensed advice through nurses. Getting correct prescription and dose was very difficult. Would not recommend. ETA: Someone else called him a dirty old man and a dinosaur. ACCURATE. I nearly expected him to be wearing a MAGA hat.
