Every time I've met with Dr. Urken, I've been more impressed and happy that I selected him as my surgeon (after meeting with another surgeon). He is extremely skilled and knowledgeable and his reputation for excellence is well known throughout the country & world. But I was surprised on my first consultation with him to find him to be patient, kind, compassionate and willing to spend a lot of time explaining every step & detail related to my surgery. I had a long printed list of questions and he went through them all with me and waited while I took notes. The day of the surgery, he came and sat with me for a while and again answered my questions and treated me with humor, kindness and patience. I was pretty nervous and he calmed me. He also took the time to speak with my brother who was there with me, and made sure the nurses gave him frequent updates. I simply could not be happier that I had Dr. Urken caring for me, I'd give him a million stars! Also, I have to say that every single person on his staff is simply wonderful. I called often before the surgery with questions and they were always available to me and never made me feel bad about calling. They went above and beyond for me, and I am eternally grateful to them all.

When I first met Dr Urken I was at ease as he sat and went through each and every step of surgery. He called me on a Sunday to give me good news that everything was fine. He cared for me as if I was his own family and i felt at ease going for surgery knowing he was the surgeon. His staff is the best out there and was available to me 24/7 and never made me feel bad asking and calling. They went above and beyond for me and i thank them all tremendously. Warm Regards

I just had surgery this morning with dr urken. I was so overwhelmed and anxious every time a tech or nurse asked me how I was feeling I would begin to cry. They would say “it’s ok, it means you are human” Dr urken asked me how I was feeling right before surgery and I started crying from anxiety/feeling scared/being alone (covid no family support) H sat down next to me and asked what is making me anxious. He took out a paper and pen and asked what my questions are. He then asked for my spouses number and sod he would call when he is finished the surgery and let my husband know how it went (while I was still sleeping) Later in recovery. The nurse told me he is in another surgery and he will see me at my follow up appointment I’m 10 days. But to my surprise he came out to see me and find out how I was feeling. He is a skilled dr. And a true gentleman. He cares he’s not full of himself, yet he is an amazing surgeon with lots of experience. And could totally be a hot headed dr.
