Let me just put it this way— If Dr. Herman practiced general medicine I would make him my PCP in a heartbeat. He is the not just the best gastroenterologist I’ve ever had, but the best doctor PERIOD. Dr. Herman really takes the time to listen, he cares and wants to help find and resolve his patients GI issues. I didn’t even come in to address my IBS, Dr. Herman noted it over our initial consultation and decided to take action. For the first time in 7 years I finally feel like I’m making some progress with my stomach problems. Dr. Herman is knowledgeable, personable, and has an office staff that is always a pleasure to talk to. I can’t thank him enough for all the help, and I would recommend him to anyone in the NYC area! I can ensure it’s worth it, even if you have to travel from a different borough.

IN ADDITION to the positive reviews here, this is another reason I'd recommend Dr Herman to all. I am always anxious when visiting doctors. But since I was referred to him several years ago by a colleague, the experience has been easy and educational. Both equally important:
*Easy: Dr Herman seems to know exactly what I was worried about and resolves my anxiety before I ask too many questions. When seeing him, I feel I am the only patient in the office to get all his attention.
*Educational: I learn a good deal of medical knowledge from him that I am feeling more confident in leading a better and healthier life.
Dr Herman is fun to talk to.

My experience at Dr Herman's office was exceptional. His front desk staff is courteous and pleasant. I did not have to wait long to see the doctor. He is very professional and answered all of my questions. I enjoyed his approach to problem solving as he included me in the decision making process. I truly recommend his practice.

Dr. Herman is patient understanding. I feel that his skill level is supervior and he and his staff deliver great customer service. As uncomfortable as the emotional aspect of the procedure is, there is never anything but respect and understanding delivered by everyone in the office. The facilities are super clean and easy to get to.

This office is run extremely poorly. Based on information Dr. Herman's assistant gave my husband about his colonoscopy being fully covered by his insurance company, he scheduled the procedure and filled the necessary prescription, which cost $109. He was then told that there would be a $390 co-pay and cancelled the procedure. The pharmacy, by law, could not take back the prescription. When I spoke to Dr. Herman about reimbursement of the $109, due to the incorrect information his office gave my husband, he said his office was not responsible and that I shouldn't "nickel and dime" him. For ordinary people $109 is a lot of money. What a way to run a medical practice!
