Dr. Jane Vlodov-Levitt

I started going to Dr. Vlodov about 1.5 years ago (2020), since I have a long standing GERD (acid reflux) and potentially other gastro issues. Before I came to Dr. Vlodov, I had an upper endoscopy performed by Dr. J. Erber, another gastroenterologist in Brooklyn, whom I found to be a very unpleasant and arrogant person, who was more interested in being on his phone than communicating with the patient. So, on the recommendation of my mother, I came to Dr. Vlodov. I find Dr. Vlodov to be a top notch professional in her field, and with whom I found easy to communicate. I did not feel hindered asking her questions, sometimes many, as I have a Masters degree in Biology, and am interested in many medical questions/issues. Not only did she engage with me on any topics, but I also never felt rushed to do so. Dr. Vlodov is also at the core a minimalist, and will only prescribe medications & perform tests that are absolutely necessary. So you never feel that she is performing tests just to charge you or your insurance. Lastly, the wait at the Office is hit or miss. Sometimes I waited for over an hour to be seen, and sometimes 5-10 mins. The nurses are very good and the front desk staff is OK too, considering how busy they usually are. I strongly and without hesitation recommend Dr. Vlodov.

Dr. Vlodov is very attentive. She helped me out a lot when I was severely sick back in 2014 & been with her since. She takes her time to listen to you & answer your questions. Her office/clinic is very clean with updated materials. She's only available Sunday-Thursday. Friday & Saturday they're close.

Absolutely bright and patient oriented doctor. She provides detailed information about your condition verbally and in written, follows up with examination results. Staff professional, every one at their designated place and on time. I felt safe to start procedure and was pleased how smoothly it went. I am hospital ER nurse myself and can tell with confidence, will see only Dr Vlodov for my GI issues, SHE CARES!!!!!!!!. Her staff - starting from front desk - to Dr. Vlodov office very caring and nice people. Thank you all!!!!!

The Dr is very good, no issue with Dr. Jane, but the office staff is terrible (besides for one lady). The etiquette is lacking. The man at the desk is unprofessional. He has an attitude and acts like he cannot do any wrong - he’s perfect. He talks down to you. They never return calls. They act like they’re superior to the client. Incompetent is not even the word to use with some of the staff. I need to find a stronger word. We called at least 10 times in a week to get a form signed for another medical procedure, yet they still didn’t send it - it’s been a week now. We have heartache and headaches from the staff. It’s a shame - the Dr. is good but the staff makes her look bad. Disgraceful. One of the worst experiences with an office staff ever. On top of all this, they don’t even apologize. I guess they don’t realize what they did (or didn’t do).

This review does not reflect Dr. Jane Vlodov herself. Dr. Vlodov is very well spoken, patient and kind. The issues are with the office, staff, and the way things are run. Since my first experience, things have not gone smoothly. On my first visit I waited more than one and a half hours after my scheduled appointment to see Dr. Vlodov. This was the first sign that a patient's time is not valued. I always have to call in because of prescription refill issues. I get shuffled from person to person because no one wants to handle the issue. Finally my last experience was having an endoscopy scheduled 3 months in advance. Two days before the procedure, the staff calls to confirm the appointment. At that time I was told that the location and time of the procedure has changed. It was now more than 3 hours earlier than originally scheduled, plus at a different location. Not happy about this, I went into the office and spoke with the manager. I asked why more notice wasn't given, or why a letter wasn't sent. I was told that it would be too hard to notify everyone of the changes sooner. They thought it was best to let people know about the changes 2 days before the procedure. My time and the time of the person accompanying me was not taken into consideration. Our schedules were already set and could not be changed. Someone needs to accompany you to have the endoscopy done. If someone cannot, the procedure will be canceled. The manager and staff do not value the time of their patients. The manner in which these situations have been handled is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. For these reasons I will be finding a new gastroenterologist.
