Dr Jacobson’s immense knowledge , professionalism, compassion and ability to listen and understand myself , as a patient , had reassured me that I was in excellent hands with my gastrointestinal issues . He took his time , thoroughly explained all to me and calmed my fears . The front staff , medical staff , and the nurse practitioner were all very professional and accommodating. I highly recommend Dr. Ira Jacobson at NYU langone .

Dr. Jacobson's bio is so impressive (world-renowned researcher, highly published, groundbreaking work in cures for liver disease) that I was intimidated to see him in a clinical setting. I had nothing to be concerned about. He is compassionate, frank and focused. He devotes his full attention to you during an appointment. I felt I was getting the best medical advice possible from someone who loved his work for the positive impact it had in helping others make good life and medical choices.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jacobson for several years. Having had procedures under his care he was quick to diagnose my condition and made the appropriate recommendations which corrected my issue. I have had occasion to require his service after office hours and he was prompt in returning my call. He is most proficient in relation to patient follow up after a visit.

My appointment was cancelled last minute due to the doctor "only" specializing in liver problems. Perhaps he should update his NYU profile as it very clearly states a number stomach/esophagus issues are treated as well. If you don't want patients coming for those issues, don't advertise it! it now makes sense as to why he had more openings than other gastroenterologists listed. As most appointments have to be made with NYU specialists weeks in advance, this last minute cancellation was incredibly unprofessional and stressful.
