1.He required us to pay upfront for consultation, prior to us being seen (certainly not unethical, though very distasteful, but we complied) 2. Had to call their office over 6 times to successfully fill our prescription for our prep kit after his staff refused to procure a pre-authorization, which was required by our insurance. (Also not unethical, but we risked missing the window for our test, and was very frustrating for how much time it took for us to clear such an obvious and simple hurdle.) 3. On the day of our procedure, his staff had us sign all manner of release forms, including those stating we had already had a consultation with the anesthesiologist and post-procedure release forms before we were even admitted into the exam room. 4. Required us to pay in advance for the procedure before we could be admitted. I'd like to point out that this is a preventative procedure that is covered by our insurance. After all the calls necessitated by our prescription. 5. Lastly, when we attempted to abort the procedure and requested the return of the release forms we had given them, they attempted to tell us they wouldn't. Please note, we walked out of the office before being admitted into the exam room and aborted the colonoscopy appointment. Needless to say, trust is an important component of a patient/doctor relationship, and Dr. Eng and his staff have crafted a very one-sided process that not only doesn't respect patient rights, it exploits an opaque process to maximize his financial potential, almost entirely burdening the patient to navigate the process.
