This 5 star rating is for arthroscopy surgery by Dr. Spencer Stein. Medical team very professional & courteous. 1/2 star for their billing dept. Got message to prepay surgery though i had authorization from insurance carrier. This is a worker's compensation case and they need qualified workers in their billing dept!

Dr Portugal is very good. He prescribed pain meds, neck collar and agreed w/ 2 neck surgeons and a neck specialist that working out is important (modify as needed)... If my spine like Eiffel tower but deteriorating way to support it is through toning muscles/ relax hyper traps. I was victim of violent crime+ lies. At night I wake up my shoulders up to my ears my jaw clenched. Almost 6 yrs ago savagely attacked by the road raging medical receptionist at Dr Andrew Fagelman’s. (Assaulted spring st office Fagelman but he is an NYU Langone affiliate I believe) I had just had a cyst removed by Dr Vine — I was holding bags, my arm numb I became a human pinata, then a victim and lies when I should’ve been safe at a doctors!!! After the attack the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my neck, shoulder and Dr Bergang prescribed a neck brace, epidural, pain meds almost 6 years ago...I don’t look it but I have handicaps on the inside degenerative disc disease (my point Dr Fagelman’s employee hit me a woman over a decade older who just been treated with painful injections in both knees had swollen Achilles tendonitis had problems getting my toes the ground and degenerative disc disease another words she assaulted an older handicap patient I don’t looking on the outside but that’s the reality) so the last thing I needed was to be punched - a running punch to my head jerked around I’d say 5x at least she pulled my hair different directions. When she was pulling my head towards her multiple times trying to kick me in the groin and missed, she pressed her barefoot against my vagina. She had thrown her shoes, keys in her hand left defensive marks on my arm, she hit me with her phone, all on YouTube and she still employed! She started dragging me down hallway by my hair after running punch hole in my retina as her coworkers stood there and later they all lied protecting her w/ 0 respect understanding patient rights! She was jerking my head/ neck spine uncontrolled rage. My MD finally came to me I tried to get help from her before the attack she was already in w/ a patient. I was told my attacker went right back to her desk as if nothing had happened! Dr Fagelman’s office has been lying almost six years — no apologies just lies so the insomnia, stress upset PTSD has been terrible — there were online attacks threats harassment so contribute to trauma insomnia; haven’t been able to heal and now I get debilitating back pain severe pain. I have such bad pain Dr Portugal helped me and NYU Langone did provide a safe place. It is shocking to see Dr Andrew Fagelman affiliated with NYU Langone! The nurse practitioners :women you seen the video you can Google Dr Fagelman assault watch youtube I allege all lied to the police during an open investigation which is ...Read More

Fancy new NYU orthopedic center with complete lack of professionalism. I was scheduled for a in-person visit (2 months wait) and on the day of the appointment I was told I need to reschedule because dr Portugal call in sick. That’s fine, it happens to all of us. The secretary scheduled me for the next day, first thing in the morning 8:30am appointment. While I was on a subway, 20 minutes before the appointment she tried to call me and I only heard her saying that the doctor has called in sick again. Then when I got out of the subway I saw she rescheduled me for a video visit at the same time, which I didn’t agree to. The only reason I waited this long for a visit is that he looks at me in person to discuss the issue. Since I was already by the center, I went up to talk to someone. Of course there was nothing they could do and offered to go with video call or reschedule for another distant date. I don’t mind he was sick or whatever. But the level of nonchalant attitude with which this has been taken care of me is beyond me. I took a day off and travelled for one hour to hear that I can do a video call with him. Why would I want to do that when I need a doctor to physically look at my injury? So I cannot even tell what sort of doctor he is but for the reasons stated above I do not recommend dr Portugal for his lack of respect for his patients and I do not recommend this whole orthopedic center for its disorganization.
