In 2006, Dr Klug performed an unnecessary colonoscopy on my 79 year old aunt. She had gone into the hospital for a problem with her hand. Because the hospital took her off her Coumadin and then put her back on, she began to bleed from the rectum. Though she had never in her life had a colonoscopy, she was convinced to do one because her father and brother had died of colon cancer. Dr Klug punctured her colon, causing her to need a colostomy. A year later, another doctor reversed the colostomy, but she died from the stress of the surgery. At her age, she never should have been given a colonoscopy, especially when she had no indications of cancer and was bleeding only because the hospital was adjusting her blood thinner. The risk of perforation is always higher in older patients. I would not trust Dr Klug or that hospital.
