Dr. Craig Rubenstein

I came to Dr. Rubenstein with a terrible chronic shoulder pain situation, after over 6 months of seeing doctors and trying to figure out what was going on. Nothing helped. My friend mentioned Dr. Rubenstein and during my first visit, he listened and got a sense of my story, and used some gentle techniques to see what I could handle. That first visit brought my pain from a 9/10 to a 4/10. His kindness and compassionate attitude to his patients, as well as his deep knowledge of the human body is incredible. He diagnosed my pinched nerve issue and I am mostly pain free and restarting a normal, healthy, happy life! Simply can’t thank him enough.

Dr. Rubenstein is a cut above. He was recommended by a massage therapist that a friend had treated me to. I was quite happy with my chiropractor at the time who I had been seeing for treatments every 6 weeks on average for over 10 years. A few months later I went to see Dr Rubenstein in desperation. I thought I was on the verge of a frozen shoulder as I couldn’t lift both arms above my shoulders and the pain I was experiencing was interfering with my sleep. Dr Rubenstein treated me for well over a half-hour. I recall leaving his office feeling like I had just been on vacation. The weight of my world had suddenly been lifted from my shoulders. I was able to lift my arms and I remember feeling so good that I got on a Citi Bike to go to work. Dr Rubenstein’s work felt nothing short of a miracle. Needless to say, I’ve been seeing Dr Rubenstein since. I recently fell on some stairs and banged my knee pretty badly. I soon discovered that I had also injured my left foot as it felt oddly heavy and numb. Dr R. Was able to see me the next day. He told me I had sprained my foot and had injured a tendon in my lower leg. After another lengthy office visit I had better movement in my foot. Dr R followed up a few days later to see how I was doing. One week later I was able to report that I felt fully healed. Amazing. Dr Rubenstein has also helped me with sleep issues through manual manipulations which I can do at home and through stimulating acupuncture meridians when I awake at night. What a relief to be sleeping well again. I write as I know that after being treated by several very good, and a couple of not-so-good chiropractors over a 30+ year span that Dr Rubenstein is unique. He gets results. I’m not going to try to describe his specialty other than to say that he does typical manipulations, applied kinesiology and he’s extremely knowledgeable about the human body and its needs. He will recommend supplements when necessary. He is also one very dedicated doctor.

I am grateful to Dr. Rubenstein for all the care, skill and effort he invests in keeping my body healthy, strong and pain free. I am a professional dancer, aerialist and stilt performer, and the performance work I do places intense demands on my body. I have had injuries to multiple joints and muscles including my shoulders, neck, lower back, hamstrings, knees, calves, ribs and forearm, and Dr. Rubenstein has always been able to help. Several of these injuries have been acute, and in those cases, Dr. Rubenstein has facilitated faster healing. He also has helped me to recover from a variety of overuse injuries, including persistent tendonitis in my right shoulder which a previous chiropractor had been unable to resolve. In addition, Dr. Rubenstein treats my muscle, joint and nerve discomfort before it turns into injury, which enables me to remain focused on my training and performance goals. I completely trust Dr. Rubenstein because of his careful approach to treating my body. Each week, Dr. Rubenstein listens patiently to my litany of aches and pains. He methodically works to resolve soft tissue, joint and nerve pain and keeps my body working comfortably and in proper alignment. He understands how to resolve my issues without overdoing or overwhelming my system, and he understands my body’s quirks and limitations. I always feel comfortable and safe in his care. My body is the medium for my art. In order to perform in a way that meets the expectations of choreographers, directors, audiences, colleagues, and ultimately myself, my body must consistently function at an extremely high level. Having the expertise and healing hands of Dr. Rubenstein on my side helps me reach my full potential and helps sustain me through the rigors of training, rehearsing and performing. In short, Dr. Rubenstein helps me to be my best physical self.

Orthopedic surgeons told me I would need spinal surgery for a SERIOUS herniated cervical disc/pinched. I was diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy which caused numbness in my fingers and loss of strength and control in one hand for an entire month...I couldn’t hold pots, style my hair, button my clothes, let alone do a basic push-up. Being a professional dancer and dance educator, this was all very devastating to experience. After 6 months of weekly and eventually bi-weekly adjustments with Dr. Rubenstein (and lots of prayer), I regained use of my arm/hands/fingers as well as confidence to remain patient and attentive to my body.
