Dr. Andrew Sama

What a great hospital and medical team. Dr Sama and his office staff ( Lucy ) and hospital staff could not have been more professional, caring and compassionate. If anyone ever needs a back surgeon I highly recommend Dr Andrew Sama @ Hospital for Special Surgery. I cannot imagine being better cared for anywhere else. Special thanks to nurses Chandra, Brittany, Yelena, Arlette, and PCA Daniella, Bari, and Griffin. Sixth floor post op you rock!

I had been suffering for 5 years with chronic and debilitating cervical radiculopathy from a herniated cervical disc. I underwent a cervical disc replacement with Dr. Sama in January of 2021. Dr. Sama gave me my life back! Himself and his team are incomparable. The care, compassion and professionalism of everyone in his office, as well as his surgical team is truly exceptional. My experience, with every person, every step of the way, not to mention during a pandemic, was nothing but positive! Thank You Dr. Sama and Thank You HSS!

A year ago today I had spinal surgery with Dr. Sama at HSS! I feel forever greatful for this amazing surgeon who made it possible for me to enjoy life again pain free ! My back and whole body feels great ! I went back to work as an RN 3 months later back to all activities and sports. Almost as flexible as I was. I would never even know that I have hardware in my back. I swim during the week , and stretch everyday. I also want to say that Dr. Sama’s PA’s and whole office staff were very helpful during a scary and stressful time. I feel extremely lucky To have come his way !!! THANK YOU DR. SAMA!!!!! YOUR MY HERO!!!!

On December 20, 2017 Dr. Sama performed a lumbar spinal fusion on me. Dr. Sama and his whole team have been AMAZING !!!!! I chose doctor Sama because I have complete faith in his ability as a doctor and admire his compassion as a care giver. In 2015 he performed back surgery on my husband when no other doctor would, and the surgery was a success. I only have positive things to say about his staff: LaToya who schedules the surgeries, Tara the P.A. who compassionately and attentively handles ALL my fifty questions and concerns, Yvonne, Jay, Alice and Joe who are behind the scenes making sure all the insurance and paperwork are done. They are the Best!

Miserable experience. I have a huge herniated disc and I've been trying to get an appointment with Dr Sama for 4 days now. His office just gives me the run-around after being on hold for 30 minutes or more each time I call. They gave me a 20 minute phone questionairre and then told me I had no chart in their system when I faxed them my records the next day. They gave me a non-functional email address and have been fully UNRESPONSIVE to my emails. I give up. What a Clown Show. There are plenty of excellent doctors in NY with normal staff. I know, I'm one of them.
